Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, on her second international trip as President of Mexico, arrived today at Toncontín Airport in Tegucigalpa to attend the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) summit in Honduras.

The CELAC foreign ministers’ meeting is being held behind closed doors at the Central Bank of Honduras (BCH) in the capital.

During the meeting, CELAC foreign ministers are expected to discuss key topics such as human mobility, energy, health security, coffee, and gender, among others.

Sheinbaum confirmed her participation following a telephone call with Honduran President Xiomara Castro on March 3.

What is CELAC?

CELAC is a regional intergovernmental organization, successor to the Rio Group and the Latin American and Caribbean Summit (CALC), designed to promote the integration and development of countries in the region. CELAC also serves as a platform for dialogue and coordinated political consensus.
