US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, once again praised Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum for the strategy she has implemented in response to US tariff policy.
He welcomed Sheinbaum’s decision to not retaliated against President Donald Trump’s moves to impose various tariffs on Mexico and suggested that the Canadian government follow her example.
“You see how Mexico has dealt with it. Mexico’s been restrained and been pragmatic and her ratings in México are 75% positive (in reference to President Claudia Sheinbaum)”, he said during a press conference from the White House.
Lutnick had previously praised Sheinbaum for not responding with countermeasures to the imposition of tariffs last month on steel and aluminum imports.
