Mexico’s Minister of the Interior Rosa Icela Rodríguez clarified that President Donald Trump had to leave the G7 Summit early, resulting in the cancellation of his bilateral meetings — not just with Mexico, but also with Japan, Ukraine, and Australia.

“It wasn’t the only meeting canceled — there were several others. There was no meeting with the Japanese government, nor with Australia or Ukraine. Trump canceled his agenda with several countries, not only with Mexico. The meeting will be rescheduled for another date,” she explained.

During the Morning Presidential Press Conference known as the “Mañanera,” the head of the Interior Ministry emphasized that the meeting between Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and U.S. President Donald Trump could still take place at a later time.

“The meeting between both heads of state can still occur at another moment,” she explained.
Rodriguez ruled out any significant delay in negotiations between the two governments, noting that communication remains strong.

Rodríguez also reported that President Sheinbaum was welcomed upon her arrival in Canada by a group of Mexican nationals residing in the country who expressed their support and recognition.

She noted that the President held a meeting with Canada’s business council, where she heard from executives from various companies interested in investing in Mexico, particularly in areas such as infrastructure and energy security. They also discussed the benefits of Plan Mexico.

Finally, Rodríguez reported that today the President will hold a trilateral meeting with the European Council, as well as with the Prime Minister of India, the German Chancellor, and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.
