Mexico’s Ministry of Tourism reported that between January and May 2025, the country received almost 9.36 million international tourists arriving by air, a 2.9% increase compared to the same period in 2024 and a 13.7% growth compared to 2019, before the pandemic.

According to data from the Migration Policy Unit, Registration, and Identity of Persons of the Ministry of the Interior, the main countries of residence of these visitors were the United States, Canada, and Argentina, whose citizens accounted for almost 7.85 million arrivals, a 6.1% increase compared to 2024.

Minister of Tourism Josefina Rodríguez Zamora noted that the United States led the list with almost 6.08 million tourists, 4.2% more than the previous year and 31.3% more than in 2019.

For Canada, the number of visitors reached almost 1.60 million, an 11.6% increase compared to 2024 and 16.1% more than in 2019.

Argentina, meanwhile, posted a significant rebound with 172,922 tourists, a 30.2% increase over the same period last year.

Rodríguez Zamora highlighted that these figures reaffirm Mexico’s position as one of the most attractive global tourist destinations, thanks to its cultural richness, biodiversity, and world-renowned cuisine.

She also reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to consolidating tourism as a strategic sector that generates well-being, employment, and “Shared Prosperity” for communities that rely on this industry.

“We will continue working to ensure that the benefits of this industry reach everyone involved in this ‘sector of good news,’” she concluded.
