“FootGolf was born 20 years ago in Tapalpa, Jalisco, and today Mexico reaffirms its leadership in hosting international events. This World Cup will not only attract tourism but also democratizes sports, opening spaces for community, inclusion, and new experiences,” Molina said.

The tournament is part of Mexico’s National Sports Tourism Strategy, which will close 2025 with more than 100 events and surpass 200 in 2026. Nearly 1,500 international visitors are expected to attend, with an average stay of 11 nights, translating into over 8,000 room-nights in double occupancy.

Fernando Name Guzzy, Director General of the Mexican FootGolf Federation and organizer of the championship, noted that the event boosts not only the sport but also Mexico’s international image.

“FootGolf creates opportunities for everyone, and with this edition we are also committed to strengthening the women’s category, which stands out for its technique and talent,” he said.

Meanwhile, Emilio Vásquez Villanueva, Guerrero’s Deputy Secretary of Tourism Promotion, affirmed that Acapulco is ready to host world-class events:

“Currently, more than 16,000 hotel rooms are available, and during the last vacation period, the state reported an economic impact of 11 billion pesos ($587.6 million USD).”

Aleksander Kravanja, President of the International FootGolf Federation, congratulated Mexico on securing the venue over contenders such as the United Arab Emirates and Sweden, and praised the organizational work that ensures the success of the 2026 edition.

The tournament will feature categories for Men, Women, Seniors, and Seniors+.

With this event, Acapulco reaffirms its revival as a world-class tourist hub, combining sports, hospitality, and economic recovery.
