The Mexican Government’s Security Cabinet reports on the results obtained from “Operation Northern Border” on September 4, 2025, according to the Security Cabinet of the Government of Mexico.
Since the operation began on February 5, some 6,940 suspects have been arrested and 5,378 firearms, 937,793 rounds of ammunition of various calibers, 25,464 magazines, 72,185.01 kg of drugs, including 386.9 kg of fentanyl, 4,683 vehicles, and 844 properties have been seized.
These actions were carried out in strict accordance with the rule of law and with full respect for human rights. Among the seizures and arrests, the following were the most significant:
– Baja California
In Mexicali, two suspects were arrested and three handguns, three magazines, 25 rounds of ammunition, and 60 doses of methamphetamine were seized.
In Tijuana, Mexicali, and Playas de Rosarito, 11 suspects were arrested, seven rounds of ammunition, 82 doses of methamphetamine, 110 doses of marijuana, 100 doses of heroin, four doses of cocaine, 15 marijuana cigarettes, a glass pipe, three vehicles, and two properties were seized.
– Sinaloa
In Culiacán and Cosalá, eight storage facilities containing various materials for the production of synthetic drugs were located and dismantled. During the operations, 3,890 liters of substances for the production of methamphetamine and two lab condensers were seized. The economic impact on organized crime is 80 million pesos (US$4.28 million).
In Navolato, four suspects were arrested and 10 firearms, various magazines, a metal box with bulk ammunition, and a bucket with tire spikes were seized.
– Sonora
In Empalme, a suspect was arrested, and a vehicle, a handgun, a magazine, four rounds of live ammunition, 1,700 doses of crystal meth, 1,880 doses of marijuana, 125 doses of cocaine, 60 crystal meth pipes, four radio communication devices, and various tire spikes were seized.
In Nogales, 45,000 liters of hydrocarbons, 14 tractor-trailers, two vehicles, six tankers, three transfer pumps, and a property were seized.
– Tamaulipas
In San Fernando, three rifles, 18 magazines, 320 rounds of ammunition, two tactical vests, two ballistic plates, and a vehicle, reported stolen and with homemade armor, were seized.
