Between January and July 2025, Mexico received more than $21.68 billion in foreign exchange from international visitors, a 6.8% increase compared to 2024 and 42.4% more than in 2019, according to Minister of Tourism Josefina Rodríguez Zamora.

“These figures reflect the confidence that international visitors have in our country. Let’s continue working —from both the public and private sectors— to consolidate tourism as a pillar of national development, generating jobs, well-being, and Shared Prosperity across the entire country,” the official stated during the presentation of the results.

According to the International Travelers Survey conducted by the National Statistics Institute (INEGI), 27.7 million international tourists arrived in Mexico in the first seven months of the year, 7.2% more than in 2024 and 5.5% higher than 2019 levels.

In July alone, tourist arrivals increased 12.3% year-over-year, totaling 8,425,420 visitors.

Overall, the country received 55.8 million international visitors, a 13.5% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
Rodríguez Zamora highlighted the growing role of women travelers, noting that 6.61 million foreign women arrived by air between January and July, a 1.7% increase compared to the previous year.

“It’s women’s time —to recognize their role as travelers, drivers of local economies, and promoters of Mexico’s cultural richness. These figures confirm that increasing numbers of women are choosing our country as a destination, motivating us to continue working on public policies with a gender perspective that guarantee inclusion and well-being in every tourism experience,” she emphasized.

The Minister also noted that the average expenditure of inbound air tourists reached $1,269, a 7.1% increase over 2024 and 24.5% higher than in 2019.

Another positive indicator was cruise tourism. In the first seven months of 2025, 6.6 million passengers arrived at Mexican ports, a 9.5% annual increase and 22.9% more than in 2019.

Foreign exchange revenue generated by cruise excursionists totaled $553.30 million, an 11% increase compared to 2024 and 51.5% higher than in 2019.

“Cruise tourism continues to experience sustained growth, confirming the diversification of Mexico’s tourism offerings and the country’s ability to compete globally. President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo’s administration remains committed to driving development in port communities, strengthening regional economies, and positioning Mexico as a global leader in hospitality and sustainability,” concluded Rodríguez Zamora.
