Financiera para el Bienestar (Finabien) reported that between October 2024 and September 2025, remittances sent from the United States to Mexico through the Finabien Paisan@ card totaled more than $22.86 million through 52,670 transactions.

During President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo’s morning press conference on September 17, Finabien Director Rocío Mejía Flores reported that 67,751 cards have been issued in the U.S. and 294,181 in Mexico during the same period. The Mexico-issued cards facilitated 9,471 remittances sent from Mexico to relatives in the United States, totaling more than 31.77 million pesos ($1.73 million).

Mejía noted that demand for the card doubled over the last six weeks and that 50,000 cards are currently en route to Mexican consulates in the U.S.

She reminded the public there are three ways to apply: via the website (www.finabien.gob.mx), at Mexico’s 53 consulates in the U.S. —where applicants receive two cards, one for each country— and at 1,700 Finabien branches nationwide.

Requirements include an email address, mobile phone number, and official identification (INE, consular ID, passport, or U.S. driver’s license). Applicants in Mexico must provide a CURP; applicants in the U.S. must provide a mailing address.

Money transfers are made through the Financiera para el Bienestar app (Android and iOS), which charges a $2.99 fee and offers a competitive exchange rate. For example, sending $400 results in 7,638.47 pesos received.

The card allows transfers of up to $2,500 per day and $10,000 per month, with a maximum balance of $20,000. The app also enables IMSS fees to be paid using a Social Security Number.
