More than 14 million international air travelers arrived in Mexico during the first eight months of 2025, reported Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, Minister of Tourism.
The Minister indicated that this figure represents a sustained increase compared to previous years and consolidates the country’s position as one of the world’s most preferred destinations.
According to data from the Migration Policy Unit of the Ministry of the Interior, between January and August this year almost 14.09 million foreign visitors arrived in Mexico, a 1% increase compared to the same period in 2024 and an accumulated growth of 10.2% in relation to 2019, when more than 12.78 million arrivals were recorded.
Rodríguez Zamora noted that the United States continues to be the main source market for tourists to Mexico, with 9.55 million visitors —a 1.3% increase compared to 2024 and 26.2% higher than in 2019.
“These figures confirm that our main source markets maintain a steady interest in Mexico and that our air connectivity, along with the diversity of experiences we offer, strengthens the flow of visitors,” she stated.
In second place was Canada, with over 1.86 million tourists, an 11.2% increase compared to last year and 16.3% higher than in 2019, reflecting the growing interest of Canadians in visiting Mexican destinations.
From the United Kingdom, 291,811 tourists arrived, a 2.4% increase compared to 2024, while other countries contributed an additional 2.38 million visitors.
The Minister emphasized that the profile of travelers choosing Mexico shows a stable trend in terms of age: the 30-to-44 age group (28.7%) and the 45-to-59 group (23.8%) were the most frequent visitors, indicating a predominance of adult tourists in their productive years, with purchasing power and diverse recreational and cultural motivations.
Rodríguez Zamora noted that the strengthening of international tourism results from an integrated strategy that includes air connectivity, digital promotion, and diversification of destinations, implemented by the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) in coordination with state governments and the private sector.
“Our task is to continue building a sustainable, inclusive, and high-quality tourism sector, aligned with the vision of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, to make tourism — the sector of good news — a generator of Shared Prosperity, with tangible benefits for everyone involved in this activity,” the Minister emphasized.
With this performance, Mexico consolidates itself as a benchmark in post-pandemic tourism recovery, maintaining its position among the world’s leading destinations and strengthening its leadership in the Americas.
