Mexico’s Ministries of Tourism (Sectur) and Foreign Relations (SRE) carried out a working tour through Montreal, New York, and New Jersey to strengthen air connectivity, expand strategic alliances, and promote the country’s tourism offerings in key North American markets.

The delegation was led by Miguel Aguíñiga Rodríguez, head of the Unit of Innovation, Sustainability and Tourism Professionalization, representing Tourism Minister Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, and included representatives from eight states, as well as Tren Maya and Grupo Mundo Maya.

The agenda, coordinated by the Mexican consulates in Montreal, New York, and New Brunswick, included meetings with airlines, airports, tour operators, cultural institutions, and specialized media, with the aim of strengthening Mexico’s positioning in the region.

In Montreal, Consul Víctor Treviño highlighted Quebec’s strategic importance as a gateway for tourism. Meetings with Montréal–Trudeau International Airport and Tourisme Montréal focused on routes, frequencies, and potential new seasonal operations.

With Air Canada and Air Canada Vacations, growth projections were reviewed, and interest was expressed in destinations such as Puerto Escondido and in the Tren Maya as an innovative product for the Canadian market. Air Transat also showed interest in strengthening joint campaigns.

The mission held meetings with C2 Montréal as well as with local media, tour operators, and influencers, who showed interest in new experiences, cultural exchange, and upcoming editorial projects.

In New York, the delegation met with Consul General Marcos Bucio Mujica to analyze U.S. market perspectives. They also held meetings with key tourism stakeholders in New York and New Jersey, along with the Meet México seminar, attended by Consul Mariana Díaz Nagore.

The tour opened new channels of cooperation that will be essential for future tourism promotion campaigns. Sectur and SRE stated that they will continue strengthening Mexico’s international presence with a comprehensive, long-term strategy.
