As a result of investigative work and inter-institutional collaboration in the state of Sinaloa, in an operation led by personnel from the Ministry of the Navy (Semar) and the Federal Attorney General’s Office (FGR), in coordination with the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), the Ministry of National Defense, and the National Guard (GN), 339 packages weighing approximately 605 kilos of what is suspected to be methamphetamine were seized.
The operation was carried out inside the Port of Mazatlán, when personnel of the Naval Port Protection Unit, during the inspection of a tractor-trailer, detained its driver and seized 339 boxes containing substances with characteristics similar to methamphetamine, weighing approximately 605 kilograms, and 21 packages containing possible cocaine, fentanyl, and other substances, with an estimated weight of 21 kilograms, which were hidden in a false bottom of the cargo unit.
The detained suspect was informed of his legal rights and, together with the seized items, was handed over to the corresponding Public Prosecutor’s Office, which will determine his legal situation.
It should be noted that this seizure represents an economic loss to organized crime of almost 282.22 million (US$15.43 million), in addition to preventing more than 15 million doses from reaching the streets.
With these actions, the institutions that comprise the Security Cabinet reaffirm their commitment to work in coordination with authorities to strengthen peace and security for Mexican families.
