Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo reiterated her willingness to work in coordination, without subordination, with the US government and announced that she will strengthen communication with Donald Trump’s administration. She instructed Minister of Foreign Relations Juan Ramón de la Fuente to hold a meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
“We are going to strengthen communication, which is why I asked Minister Juan Ramón de la Fuente to meet with the Secretary of State, if necessary. Two or three days ago, Secretary of State Rubio himself spoke of the good coordination on security matters that exists with Mexico, which has been mentioned on several occasions. We have a joint working group, so we will strengthen our relationship and information sharing, including the data we are providing on the number of laboratories seized. In short, we will provide them with all the information available and, within the framework of what we have been working on, strengthen our coordination,” Sheinbaum reported during the morning presidential press conference known as the ”mañanera”.
