Mexico is a country with unparalleled culinary wealth, where each dish tells a story of tradition, identity and culture. The culinary festivals hosted in different states country will be a gateway to a rich diversity of food, bringing together traditional cooks, renowned chefs, local farmers and lovers of good food.
On behalf of Mexico, the Ministry of Tourism (Secretaría de Turismo, Sectur) invites you to take part in these cultural experiences, and in doing so, support tourism and preserve Mexican traditions.
Some of the events that will offer unique experiences for locals and visitors are:
Sinaloa en Punto México (Mexico City, throughout March)
An exhibition of the cuisine, culture and handicrafts of Sinaloa and the state’s Pueblos Mágicos (Magical Towns). Take advantage of this long weekend to visit Punto México: on Monday, March 17 they will be offering dishes such as the traditional aguachile and the delicious water coconuts, as well as selling handicrafts, dried shrimp and coconut-covered marshmallows, traditional from Mazatlán.
Pulque Fair 2025 (Jiquipilco, State of Mexico, March 14 to 23)
A promotional space for pulque masters and handicrafts from different regions of the country that pay homage to the ancestral drink. 80 craftsmen participate with traditional flavors of pulque and fruit curing such as coconut, mango, guava, and mamey, as well as vegetables such as celery and tomato.
International Taco and Asado Festival (Amecameca, State of Mexico, March 15 and 16)
A celebration of tacos and asado with more than 35 taquerías from different countries creating inspired meats with a touch of cilantro, onion and sauces made with different chilies.
Sal Real de Colima Fest (Manzanillo and Colima, March 22 to May 31)
An event in honor of the salt mining community, with cultural and culinary activities with a cause.
Tlaxcala Cuisine Day (Tlaxcala, March 27)
A day dedicated to promoting the culinary wealth of the state and the importance of sustainable cuisine. Traditional cooks, chefs, universities, and restaurants will offer dishes made with local ingredients. By bringing together the Guardians of the Corn of Huamantla, San Pablo del Monte and Tlaxco, the culinary festival will offer; a mixology competition with local herbs, spices and fruits; a Tianguis that harkens back to the old markets and a metate rally with five points to be awarded: corn, nixtamalization, grinding, and preparation of tortillas and sauces.
Taco Day
Every March 31 is “Taco Day”, one of the most representative dishes of Mexico. Recognized for its nutritional and cultural value, the elements of a taco are the tortilla, the filling and the sauce. The most traditional styles are carnitas, guisados, al pastor, suadero, bistec and canasta. Enjoy Taco Day by trying the great variety of tacos that exist in Mexico.
Flavors with a Cause (CDMX, April 5)
A meeting of chefs and restaurants in support of children and teens with cancer. Chefs will cook with ingredients such as corn, chili, cocoa, amaranth, mint and mezcal at the Live Aqua Bosques Hotel.
Chef for Los Cabos (April 12)
In this delicious event, 24 chefs from Baja California Sur unite their creativity and heart for the benefit of the community. “Cooking the Future of Los Cabos” seeks to include and raise awareness among chefs about the importance of preparing menus with local and organic produce.
National Cheese and Wine Fair (Tequisquiapan, May 22 to June 8)
Tastings, food, and wine pairings along with cultural events set at a winery.
Snow Fair (Santiago Tulyehualco, Xochimilco, April 12 to 21)
An icy tradition that celebrates the artisanal creation of snow cones with natural ingredients.
These festivals are an opportunity to discover, taste and celebrate the diversity and culinary wealth of Mexico, to share the value of ingredients and pre-Hispanic and modern cooking techniques, as well as to fall in love with the culinary charms of each destination in Mexico.
