Mexico expressed its “great dismay” over the violation of the ceasefire in Gaza and condemned the loss of innocent civilian lives. Through a message from the Ministry of Foreign Relations (SRE) released on Tuesday, the Mexican government issued an urgent call for respect for international humanitarian law.
“The @GobiernoMX, through the @SRE_mx, expresses its great dismay at the violation of the ceasefire agreement and the resumption of hostilities in Gaza, which have left more than 400 civilians victims dead, including women, girls, and boys,” the SRE said in its X account.
The Mexican government condemns “the loss of innocent civilian lives and urgently calls for respect for international humanitarian law, a ceasefire to allow humanitarian aid to enter Gaza, the release of the remaining hostages, and the resumption of negotiations for a lasting peace in the region,” the statement continued.
Since hostilities erupted in Gaza on October 7, 2023, the Mexican government has consisted voted with the majority in UN resolutions condemning Israel, including its repression in the West Bank, supporting full Palestinian membership in the United Nations, urging the release of hostages, and calling for a two-state solution to the conflict.
