The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, reported that, during the first two months of 2025, 3.890 million foreign tourists arrived in Mexico by air.
The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) specified that this represents an increase of 2.7% compared to 2024 and 17.9% more than in 2019, when 3.299 million tourists arrived.
She added that the main countries of residence of foreign tourists who arrived by air in Mexico during the first two months of 2025 were the United States, Canada, and Argentina, which together accounted for 3.261 million tourists, 6.6% more than in the same period of 2024 and 30.3% more than in 2019.
In this regard, she mentioned that in January and February 2025, air arrivals of US residents was 2.368 million tourists, 4.3% higher than in 2024 and 38.2% more than in 2019.
Rodríguez Zamora pointed out that this “is an unequivocal sign of the importance of the flow of international tourists in the economic relationship between Mexico and the United States, and confirms the need to strengthen and maintain the ties between the two nations.”
In this sense, and with the aim of continuing to work together to promote Mexico in the United States, she recalled that, as part of the Tianguis Turístico 2025 celebration, “La Ventana de México en San Diego”, a cullinary and cultural event held at Liberty Station, will be free and open to the public on April 26 and 27, 2025, where attendees will be able to learn more about the natural, cultural, artisan and cullinary offerings of our country.
She emphasized that in the first two months of 2025, air arrivals to Mexico from Canada registered 814,352 tourists, 11.8% more than the same period in 2024 and 15.6% more than those received in 2019.
She also said that between January and February 2025, air arrivals of residents from Argentina reached 78,139 tourists, 29.5% more than in 2024.
