AIFA serves more than 11 million passengers during first 3 years of operation

The General Director of the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), Isidoro Pastor Román, indicated that 11,393,388 passengers have used the air terminal during its first three years of operation.

Pastor Román explained, in the morning conference of the President Claudia Sheinbaum (Mañanera del Pueblo) on April 2, that in 2022 the AIFA served 912,000 passengers, in 2023 2.6 million, in 2024 6.3 million and in the first three months of 2025 1.6 million, fulfilling the expectations of the Master Development Program.

Additionally, he emphasized that since the last quarter of 2023, the international airport became the main cargo terminal of the 80 that make up the Mexican Airport System, transporting more than 712,000 tons of cargo and allowing the collection of more than MXN 140 billion in foreign trade taxes.

He also emphasized that, since the first quarter of 2024, AIFA’s operating expenses were covered by its own income and explained that at the end of the previous year, it ended with a profit of MXN 448 million pesos.

During the morning conference, a video was shown detailing the main activities and outstanding achievements of the three years of AIFA’s operation, including the creation of 15,000 direct jobs and more than 150,000 indirect jobs around the airport site, the operation of seven national airlines with 37 national destinations and eight international destinations operated by three national and three foreign airlines.

It should be noted that in December 2024, the airport was recognized with the Prix Versailles award for its design and architecture.
