Over 31 Million Air Passengers Transported in Mexico During the First Quarter of 2025

The number of passengers transported on domestic and international flights to and from Mexico during the first quarter of 2025 reached 31.09 million, according to Mexico’s Minister of Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora.

“This growth not only reflects the positive economic and tourism momentum in Mexico, but it is also undeniable evidence of the strengthening of our country’s airport infrastructure. This, in turn, allows the tourism sector to continue being a key driver for bringing well-being and Shared Prosperity to all Mexicans involved in this noble activity,” she said.

According to data from the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC) of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT), the Minister of Tourism (Sectur) specified that of this total, 14.799 million were domestic flight passengers, a 5.2% increase over 2024 and 24.5% compared to 2019.

She added that the airlines with the highest number of domestic travelers during the first three months were VivaAerobus and Volaris, transporting over 10.77 million passengers, an 8.2% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

Over 16.29 million passengers traveled on international flights, 2% more than in 2024 and a 28.5% increase compared to 2019.

Rodríguez Zamora noted that the main Mexican airlines transporting international travelers this quarter were Aeroméxico and Volaris, with over 3.39 million passengers, 3.1% more than in 2024.

Additionally, the U.S. airlines with the highest passenger volume were American Airlines and United Airlines, transporting more than 3.52 million passengers.
