Mexico’s Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) reported that between January and September 2025, some 90.9 million passengers traveled on domestic and international flights — a 2.4% increase compared to the same period in 2024, and 20.4% higher than pre-pandemic levels in 2019.
Minister of Tourism Josefina Rodríguez Zamora noted that these figures reflect the strength and competitiveness of Mexico’s aviation sector, driven by the confidence of travelers, airlines, and investors.
Mexico has a strong, competitive, and constantly growing aviation sector, supported by the confidence of travelers, airlines, and investors. The numbers confirm that our country’s connectivity is not only stable but strengthening,” Rodríguez Zamora said.
According to data from the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC), a total of 47.1 million passengers traveled on domestic flights during the first nine months of the year — a 3.3% increase over 2024 and 19.2% more than in 2019.
Meanwhile, international flights carried 43.8 million passengers, up 1.4% from 2024 and 21.6% above 2019 levels, underscoring the dynamism of Mexico’s tourism industry and the strengthening of its air connectivity.
Rodríguez Zamora noted that this sustained growth reflects the leadership of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, whose administration has implemented policies to enhance infrastructure, connectivity, and national competitiveness.
“We continue to move forward with confidence, strengthening our routes, destinations, and strategic alliances, assured that Mexico is — and will remain — a global leader in tourism and aviation,” she concluded.
