As part of the support provided to travelers on Mexico’s highways, the General Directorate of Tourist Services, known as Ángeles Verdes (Green Angels), assisted 150,945 tourists during the first quarter of 2025.

According to Minister of Tourism Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, 128,140 tourists were assisted on the road, 13,866 through the emergency number 078 and the mobile application, and 8,939 at tourist information modules.

The Minister added that assistance was provided to visitors from 41 countries, including the United States, Colombia, Venezuela, Canada, Dominica, Cuba, France, Argentina, and Spain.

“For 64 years, the Green Angels have been important allies of highway tourism. They have instilled confidence in travelers journeying along Mexico’s highways. In addition to providing mechanical assistance, they also offer tourist guidance and support in areas affected by natural disasters, making them true heroes of the road,” she said.

Rodríguez Zamora encouraged travelers on the country’s highways to use the free services of the Green Angels if needed, by calling the emergency number 078. She also urged tourists to check the condition of their vehicles before setting off on their Mexican adventure.

She noted that 78% of the services provided were for mechanical assistance, 17.4% for tourism information, and 4.5% for roadside assistance, which includes support in accidents, transport, and emergency care. The common types of assistance requests were: 19% for flat tires, 15.6% for engine problems, 15.4% for cooling system issues (overheating), 11.6% for electrical system failures, and 5.1% for running out of fuel.
