The Mexican government reported that during 2025, the federal tourism assistance program Ángeles Verdes provided support to 665,100 travelers from 75 nationalities, reinforcing its role as a cornerstone of safe and reliable road travel throughout the country.

Ángeles Verdes is a public program operated under Mexico’s Ministry of Tourism that offers free roadside assistance, basic mechanical support, tourist information, and emergency aid to travelers on Mexico’s highways. The service operates 365 days a year and is available to both domestic and international visitors, making it a key component of Mexico’s tourism infrastructure.

Minister of Tourism Josefina Rodríguez Zamora reported that the program provided 221,008 assistance services in 2025, including mechanical aid, tourist support, and travel information, helping to strengthen confidence among travelers navigating the country by road.

“Ángeles Verdes promotes road tourism, strengthens connectivity between destinations, and accompanies travelers with a professional, human-centered, and free service. It reaffirms Mexico’s reputation as a safe, welcoming country with a strong commitment to tourism,” Rodríguez Zamora said.

According to the Ministry of Tourism, 551,082 services involved direct roadside assistance; 68,742 requests were handled through the 078 emergency number and the official mobile application; and 45,276 services were provided at physical assistance modules. In addition to Mexican travelers, the program assisted visitors from the United States, Colombia, Venezuela, Argentina, Spain, and other countries.

Rodríguez Zamora encouraged travelers to make use of the program’s digital tools, inviting both domestic and international tourists to download the Ángeles Verdes mobile app or call 078, a nationwide emergency assistance line available year-round.

Sandra Díaz Guevara, Ángeles Verdes general director, highlighted the program’s role in providing reliable tourist information and route planning, enabling travelers to move more safely and efficiently across Mexico.

In terms of territorial coverage, Ángeles Verdes units traveled more than 13.7 million kilometers across 233 strategic highway corridors in 2025. Of all services provided, 75.9% were for mechanical assistance, 19.2% involved tourist information, and 4.9% addressed emergencies, accidents, and traveler support situations.

The most common assistance requests were related to tire issues, engine failures, overheating, electrical problems, and general travel information. The highways with the highest number of requests for assistance included major routes such as Mexico City–Cuernavaca, Toluca–Mexico City, and Acapulco–Chilpancingo.

The Ministry of Tourism emphasized that Ángeles Verdes plays a vital role in strengthening domestic tourism while offering reassurance to international travelers exploring Mexico by road, contributing to safe, memorable travel experiences nationwide.

“In Mexico, when you travel its highways, an angel travels with you,” Rodríguez Zamora concluded.
