Billie Eilish has joined the growing chorus of recognition of the aid that Mexico has sent to Texas.
The singer shared a photo of Claudia Sheinbaum and Mexican rescuers on her Instagram account with the caption: “The President of Mexico sent a team of 20 firefighters and rescuers from Ciudad Acuña.”

The post comes from the account of The Other 98%, a nonprofit organization that shared the details of Mexico’s aid to Texas:
“The President of Mexico sent a team of more than 20 firefighters and first responders from Ciudad Acuña, equipped with specialized search and rescue tools, to Kerr County, Texas, where they immediately joined local crews to help with recovery efforts after catastrophic floods. These Mexican teams provided critical support, including drones and advanced technology to help locate missing Texans, and worked side by side with the Mountain Home Fire Department to search for survivors and assist families affected by the disaster,” the post reads.
It also highlights that the selfless actions of Mexico’s President stand out even more given the harsh climate created by Donald Trump’s ongoing war against migrants in the United States.
Despite Trump’s constant attacks and dehumanizing rhetoric—having built his political style on division and fear—the Mexican leader chose to rise above the hostilities.
She chose to send aid to Texas at a time when many in her position might have turned their backs, especially considering how Trump has treated migrants and neighboring countries.
“By stepping up in this way, she proved herself to be the bigger person. Rather than matching Trump’s combative stance or refusing to help those who attack her people, she embodied the values of partnership and generosity. Her willingness to help, even in the face of ongoing antagonism, reminds everyone what real leadership and compassion look like in difficult times,” the post continued.
The original post drew surprise from commenters who noticed Eilish’s post:
“Seeing Claudia Sheinbaum on Billie’s stories was unexpected.”
“How does Billie even know who Claudia Sheinbaum is?”
Others praised the work of the Mexican rescuers:
“Bravo! In Chile, we know well the work of Mexican firefighters and rescuers—they’ve worked shoulder to shoulder with ours. They’re heroes,” one user commented.
Eilish’s post comes just one day after Oscar-winning actress Viola Davis also expressed admiration for President Sheinbaum.
