The Government of Mexico is keeping in operation the comprehensive strategy “México Te Abraza,” a federal program designed to receive and provide dignified assistance to Mexican nationals repatriated from the United States through a network of nine Assistance Centers located at strategic points across the country, President Claudia Sheinbaum reported.
In a video message, the President explained that these centers are located in Tijuana, Baja California; San Luis Río Colorado and Nogales, Sonora; Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua; Nueva Rosita, Coahuila; Reynosa and Matamoros, Tamaulipas; Tapachula, Chiapas; and Villahermosa, Tabasco. Their aim is to provide immediate, orderly, and personalized assistance to those returning to the country.

Thirty-four federal agencies participate in the Assistance Centers, offering temporary lodging, meals, personal hygiene kits, health services, and free internet access chips provided by the Federal Electricity Commission.
The model seeks to address both immediate basic needs and to facilitate the social and economic reintegration of repatriated individuals.
As part of the program, returning nationals receive their repatriation letter, CURP identification number, and a certified copy of their birth certificate, as well as cards from Financiera para el Bienestar (Finabien) and Bienestar Paisano.
In addition, they are enrolled in social well-being and housing programs, IMSS Bienestar, and connected to employment opportunities with companies participating in the strategy.
Within the framework of International Migrants Day, Interior Minister Rosa Icela Rodríguez presented a report on the progress made under México Te Abraza and underscored that the strategy was designed at the instruction of President Sheinbaum to guarantee comprehensive assistance, shelter, and safe transportation to communities of origin, as well as full respect for the human rights of those returning.
According to official figures, from January 20 to December 17, some 145,537 repatriations of Mexican nationals from the United States were recorded. October saw the highest number of returns, mainly by land, while August registered an increase in air repatriations arriving at the airports of Villahermosa, Tapachula, and the “Felipe Ángeles” International Airport.
During that period, 99,924 repatriated Mexican citizens entered one of the Assistance Centers, where more than 846,000 services were provided, including 292,833 meals, 98,018 transfers to communities of origin, more than 90,000 IMSS enrollments, 85,000 Paisano cards delivered, and more than 56,000 people temporarily housed.
The head of the National Migration Institute, Sergio Salomón, said that the presidential instruction is to assist all those arriving with a humanist vision and dignified treatment, guaranteeing full respect for their rights regardless of their migratory status.
At the same time, as part of the Winter Operation of the 2025 Heroínas y Héroes Paisanos Program, in effect from November 28 to January 8, 2026, some 253 assistance modules and observers were deployed at airports, highways, bus terminals, and strategic points throughout the country. To date, 463,879 services have been provided and complaints from returning citizens have been addressed.
On December 17, Mexico received the 20th edition of the Caravan of Order and Legality, comprised of more than 5,200 vehicles arriving from the United States, transporting more than 20,000 Mexican nationals to different regions of the country during the holiday season.
Federal authorities reiterated that the México Te Abraza strategy will remain in place permanently as a national support network, with the goal of offering accompaniment, protection, and real opportunities for reintegration to Mexicans returning to the country.
