  • The seizure was led by personnel from the Navy, the Ministry of National Defense, the Federal Attorney General’s Office, the National Guard, and the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection
  • The seizure prevented the production of more than 27 tons of methamphetamine, equivalent to nearly 700 million doses

A land operation led by personnel from the Ministry of the Navy (Semar) in support of public security, together with the Ministry of National Defense (Defensa), the Federal Attorney General’s Office (FGR), the National Guard (GN), and the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), secured a mega lab used for the production of synthetic drugs in the state of Zacatecas.

This operation was carried out by naval personnel during land surveillance patrols for the maintenance of the rule of law in the town of Carrizalillo, Zacatecas, where they located a clandestine lab complex with various materials used by criminal groups for the production of synthetic drugs.

In this complex, located in the mountains of Zacatecas, with a surface area of 395,000 square meters, 36 reactors, 56 drums, 65 vats, nine mixers, 77 gas tanks, 209 barrels, four power generators, 62 lab condensers, 94 burners, and diverse material were seized in the areas allocated for the storage of pre-precursors, synthesis of chemical pre-precursors, as well as crystallization and drying.

In the pre-precursor storage area, approximately 63,100 liters of different substances were impounded, including benzyl chloride and 125 kilograms of caustic soda.

In the chemical precursor synthesis area, 10,950 liters and 15,950 kilograms of different substances were found, with tartaric acid being the most common item.

In this complex used as a clandestine lab, chemical precursors and other material were neutralized and destroyed, thus preventing them from being used for the production of synthetic drugs.

It is important to note that this seizure prevented the production of 27,930 kilograms of methamphetamine, equivalent to 698,250,000 doses.

Thus far during the current presidential administration, the Mexican Navy has seized approximately 34,232 kilograms of methamphetamine, 202,907 liters of chemical precursors, and 122,598 kilograms of chemical precursors.

Within the framework of the National Security Strategy, with these actions, the Security Cabinet is contributing to the sum of efforts to combat criminal behavior, both in establishing clandestine labs as well as in the production of synthetic drugs in Mexico. These operations are decreasing the production and distribution of drugs by criminal groups and thus safeguarding the health and physical integrity of both Mexican families and those of other nations.
