As a result of coordination between state and federal authorities, as well as ongoing operations to strengthen security in the state of Baja California, personnel from the ministries of National Defense (Defensa), Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), and the Navy (Semar), the Federal Attorney General’s Office (FGR), National Guard (GN), and the State Citizen Security Force participated in an operation that led to the arrest of seven suspects in possession of weapons designated as being for the exclusive use of the Army. In addition, three searches were carried out and a methamphetamine production laboratory was dismantled.

The incidents occurred during reconnaissance, security, and surveillance patrols in the municipality of Tijuana, where agents observed a truck with California license plates, with five occupants and two more suspects on foot. When they were ordered to halt, they behaved evasively, so a security inspection was carried out to rule out any illegal activity.

During the search of the vehicle and the occupants’ belongings, five long rifles and two handguns were found, leading to the arrest of the seven suspects.

The detainees were informed of their legal rights and, along with the seized items, were handed over to the corresponding public prosecutor’s office, which will determine their legal status.

Following this operation, three search warrants were executed on properties located in the municipality of Tecate, where a methamphetamine laboratory was dismantled and more than 1,000 liters and 100 kilograms of precursors used in the production of synthetic drugs were seized, in addition to drugs and weapons.

With these actions, the Security Cabinet, through coordination with federal government bodies, reaffirms its commitment to citizens to prevent and combat crimes that affect the population.
