Mexico Posts 144.9 Billion Pesos (US$7.35 billion) in Tourism Revenue During Easter Vacation

Minister of Tourism Josefina Rodríguez Zamora reported that the Easter holiday period exceeded all expectations, bringing in almost 144.95 billion pesos (US$7.35 billion) in national tourism-related revenue.

The figure covers the period from Saturday, April 12 to Sunday, April 20, and represents a 5.4% increase compared to 2024.

The official noted that national hotel occupancy rates reached 67.7%, which is 3.2 percentage points higher than the same period last year. She also reported that 3.43 million tourists stayed in hotel rooms, corresponding to 73.1% domestic and 26.9% international visitors.

The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) reaffirmed its commitment to continue promoting “Mexico and its greatness” and to ensure that tourism remains a generator of Shared Prosperity, benefiting all members of the productive chain, especially local communities, both directly and indirectly.

Rodríguez Zamora emphasized that, thanks to guaranteed public security and a revamped tourism infrastructure, the state of Guerrero achieved an average hotel occupancy rate of 94.7%. Specific destinations stood out in this regard:

• Taxco: 100% occupancy
• Acapulco: 95.2% occupancy
• Ixtapa: 95.3% occupancy

She added that hotel tourist arrivals totaled 191,350 visitors, a 68.4% increase compared to 2024, generating almost 4.02 billion pesos (US$20 million) in revenue, a 59.2% increase over last year.

In addition, Rodríguez Zamora welcomed the tourist turnout in Mazatlán during Easter Week. According to the Sinaloa Tourism Department, the “Pearl of the Pacific” welcomed over 607,000 visitors, with a 91% hotel occupancy rate, generating 1.8 billion pesos (US$9.13 million) in revenue. The city also received 4,282 cruise ship passengers.

She further reported that Sinaloa received 2.4 million visitors, with an average hotel occupancy rate of 83% and a total economic revenue exceeding 3.2 billion pesos (US$16 million), based on statistics from the state’s Ministry of Tourism.
