The beaches of Rosarito will witness and serve as the backdrop for the 49th edition of the Tianguis Turístico, which will take place from April 28 to May 1 at the Baja California Center, announced this Tuesday by Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, and Baja California’s Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Aguíñiga Rodríguez.

The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) reiterated that this 49th edition of Tianguis Turístico will be the first to have a Mexico-American character, with activities in both Baja California and San Diego, in response to the growing interest from buyers in the United States and Canada for Mexican destinations.

In this regard, she highlighted that, so far, all 32 states of the Republic have confirmed their participation, along with the attendance of 300 hosted buyers, 80 percent of whom are from the United States and Canada, while the rest will come from Europe, Asia, and Latin America.

She added that Tianguis Turístico has broken records, with 924 buyers from 624 companies across 26 countries, 40 percent of whom are from the United States and Canada.

The official clarified that on a more than 85  thousand square foot area, with a capacity of between 10,000 and 15,000 people, at the largest tourism event in the Americas, tourists will be able to discover the greatness of Mexico and what makes it unique from other countries—its ancient culture, pre-Hispanic traditions preserved and represented through its dances, crafts, and gastronomy.

As a result, she said, the arrival of visitors will continue to increase, positively impacting the economic spillover for communities, Indigenous Peoples, and Afro-descendants.

She also emphasized that the Tianguis Turístico “will not be limited to the exhibition center, which is where the commercial activity, business meetings, and exchanges of tourism products for the states take place. Activations will also be held in municipalities like Ensenada, Tijuana, and Valle de Guadalupe, which will promote and give visibility to Baja California.”

Rodríguez Zamora mentioned that important announcements will be made to strengthen tourism activities, such as the relaunch of the Visit Mexico platform, which will include artificial intelligence, dynamic maps, and immersive experiences to improve content personalization aimed at travelers.

Additionally, the launch of “La Gran Escapada, El Buen Fin del Turismo,” a joint initiative with the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services, and Tourism (Concanaco Servytur), seeks to boost tourism through promotions and exclusive offers in accommodation, transportation, and tourist activities.

In this context, activations will take place in San Diego, United States, such as the “Ventana a México” event at Liberty Station. A Punto México will also be set up at the Consulate of San Diego, where Mexican crafts, local products, and tourist destinations will be showcased, demonstrating the diversity of experiences Mexico offers.

For his part, Aguíñiga Rodríguez mentioned that this edition of Tianguis Turístico, which will be held for the first time in northern Mexico, has generated great expectations in the industry, proving the interest and trust in Baja California as the host of high-impact events.
