During the first half of 2025, Mexico received almost six million female tourists by air, a 1.8% increase compared to the same period in 2024. They represented 51.7% of all international visitors, Minister of Tourism Josefina Rodríguez Zamora reported.

The official highlighted that the growth of this segment reaffirms Mexico’s role as one of the most attractive and reliable tourist destinations worldwide.

“As President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo says: it’s women’s time. And in tourism, it is clearly women’s time! The numbers don’t lie: an increasing number of female travelers recognize Mexico as a safe and welcoming destination,” she said.

According to the data presented, female travelers from the United States accounted for 68% of all women tourists entering Mexico during this period, consolidating that country as the main source of female tourism to Mexico.

Rodríguez Zamora emphasized that this trend “reaffirms the close tourism ties between the two nations” and demonstrates U.S. women’s preference for Mexican destinations, especially those of beach, culture, and nature.

In second place were British and Argentine tourists, each representing 2% of arrivals.

Beyond the continued North American dominant share, the Ministry of Tourism underscored the expansion of emerging markets. Argentina recorded a 29% increase in female arrivals; South Korea, 25%; and China 13%, all compared to the same six-month period of 2024.

These increases, Rodríguez Zamora explained, reflect the importance of diversifying tourism promotion and positioning Mexico as an attractive destination for women travelers from different regions of the world.

According to the Migration Policy Unit of the Ministry of the Interior (Segob), the main regions of origin for female tourists were: North America: 83%; Europe: 7%; and South America: 6%.

These figures confirm the importance of North America but also highlight the steady growth of other markets that broaden Mexico’s tourism appeal.

The flow of female tourists was concentrated in four international airports: Cancún, with 47% of total arrivals; Mexico City, with 14%; Los Cabos, with 12%; and other destinations (Guadalajara, Puerto Vallarta, Monterrey, among others), with 27%.

This pattern reflects the strength of beach destinations but also the dynamism of major cities and alternative tourist centers.
The head of Sectur concluded that the results show that “Mexico is in fashion” and said that the ministry will continue working to ensure that tourism translates into direct benefits for local communities.

“From the Ministry of Tourism, we will continue working to turn these figures into well-being for everyone, consolidating the role of tourism as a generator of Shared Prosperity,” Rodríguez Zamora affirmed.
