Mexico Celebrates Culinary Talent in Grand Style with Festival in San Francisco

The Consulate General of Mexico in San Francisco has announced the opening of Gourmex SF, a festival that showcases the richness and diversity of Mexican culinary talent in the Bay Area.

This grand culinary celebration, set to take place on May 22 at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Forum from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, complements the “Alebrijes y Nahuales” exhibition currently on display at Yerba Buena Gardens in the heart of San Francisco’s cultural district.

Gourmex is an event that highlights Mexico’s culinary heritage and tradition through a vibrant selection of the country’s different dishes and beverages. The 2025 edition will feature renowned local chefs and restaurants, offering tastings of traditional Mexican spirits and food pairings in a relaxed and festive atmosphere.
Gourmex SF has become one of the Consulate’s most successful events.

This year, the Consulate will be joined by chefs Gloria Domínguez from Tamarindo; Azari Cuenca-Maitret from Copita; Luis Flores from Flores and Uno Dos Tacos; Octavio Diaz from Agave Uptown Healdsburg; Osvaldo Sánchez from Agave Uptown Oakland; Salvador Álvarez from Sysco; and Linda and Jesús from Casa de Chocolates.

It should be noted that special guest chef from Mexico, Esteban Lluis of Damiana—recipient of a Michelin Star in 2024 and former chef at the restaurant Cala in San Francisco—will also be participating.

“Gourmex SF is a testament to the pride we feel for our roots and our culture. Through cuisine, we share the richness, diversity, and creativity of contemporary Mexico with the San Francisco community. We invite everyone to join us in this celebration that unites art, flavor, and the resilient spirit of Mexico,” said Ana Luisa Vallejo Barba, Consul General of Mexico in San Francisco.
