International tourism to Mexico is on the rise. Between January and June 2025, the country received 11.02 million foreign air travelers, an 1.6% increase compared to 2024 and a 12.1% jump over 2019, according to the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur).

Minister of Tourism Josefina Rodríguez Zamora attributed the growth to expanded air connectivity and the launching of new international routes.

“These results provide a solid foundation for continued growth. With the introduction of new international flights, we are confident that foreign arrivals will keep increasing, generating more opportunities for Mexico’s economic and social development,” she said.

United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom Lead Arrivals

Data from the National Population Registry and Migration Policy Unit of the Ministry of the Interior shows that the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom were the top three source markets, accounting for 9.25 million arrivals.

• United States: 7.36 million visitors, up 2.4% from 2024 and 28.7% from 2019.
• Canada: 1.68 million visitors, an increase of 11.8% over 2024 and 16.3% compared to 2019.
• United Kingdom: 205,877 visitors, up 0.6% year-on-year.

The remaining visitors came from 237 other countries, together totaling over 1.77 million tourists.

Connectivity and Tourism Diversification

Rodríguez Zamora emphasized that in 2025, new routes and increased flight frequencies from key markets have helped diversify Mexico’s tourism offerings, shorten travel times, and broaden access to more destinations across the country.

She stressed that this approach aims to distribute the economic and social benefits of tourism more evenly, in line with President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo’s directive to make tourism a driver of Shared Prosperity.
