International Visitor Arrivals in March Increase 10.1% Compared to 2024

In March of this year, Mexico received 8,368,662 international visitors, 10.1 percent more than in the same month of 2024. Of this total, 4.2 million, or 50 percent, were tourists who stayed overnight in the country.

Minister of Tourism Josefina Rodríguez Zamora explained that “these results clearly reflect the growth of tourism, which translates into significant benefits for the national economy and well-being for local communities through job creation and regional development in tourist areas.”

She added that in March 2025, revenue from total visitor spending reached almost U$3.66 billion, a 5.2 percent year-over-year increase.

International tourists spent more than U$3.40 billion, of which 95.4 percent corresponded to inbound tourists and 4.6 percent to border-area tourists.

According to data from the International Travelers Surveys published by the National Statistical Institute (INEGI), the Minister of Tourism reported that from January to March 2025, Mexico received almost US$10.27 billion in foreign currency from international visitors—a 5 percent rise compared to the same period in 2024 and a 45.8 percent increase compared to 2019.

She also reported that in the first quarter of 2025, Mexico welcomed 23.8 million international visitors, 13.3 percent more than in 2024. Foreign currency income from international tourists during the first three months of the year totaled U$9.48 billion, 3.4 percent more than in 2024 and 46.5 percent higher than in the same period in 2019.

Rodríguez Zamora added that from January to March 2025, some 11.9 million international tourists entered the country, 6 percent more than in 2024 and 7.1 percent more than in 2019.

The Minister of Tourism also indicated that 6.6 million inbound tourists arrived by air in the first quarter of 2025, with an average spending of US$1,311.40, a 5 .2 percent increase over 2024 and 24.2 percent higher than in 2019.
She also reported that between January and March 2025, 3.4 million cruise passengers arrived at various Mexican ports, 11.5 percent more than during the same months of 2024 and 22.7 percent higher than in 2019.

Finally, she noted that revenue from cruise excursionists amounted to US$288.20 million, a 13.8 percent increase compared to 2024 and 53.7 percent more than in 2019.
