Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo emphasized that the Government of Mexico will act with seriousness and responsibility following the accident that occurred with the Interoceanic Train. As part of the response, she announced that this Monday, December 29, she will travel to Oaxaca to personally attend to the affected families.
President Sheinbaum outlined the priority actions to be carried out:
- Guaranteeing assistance for the victims and their families.
- Clarifying what happened. With this in mind, the Federal Attorney General’s Office (FGR) is already conducting the corresponding expert investigations and studies, and the Railway Transportation Regulatory Agency is evaluating the incident.
- Guaranteeing the safety of the Interoceanic Train. To this end, a review will be carried out with the Navy to ensure that the rail line is in proper condition to resume operations.
