In a video posted on the social media platform X, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro criticized President Donald Trump’s tariff actions, stating that “it makes no sense to impose tariffs on our two biggest allies,” referring to Mexico and Canada.
The President of the United States just pushed a button to make the things we buy more expensive, and make it harder for Pennsylvania business to sell they products they make.

He explained in detail that dairy producers in the state will be directly affected by the potential tariffs that Mexico may impose in response to the U.S. measure, emphasizing that this will be the fate of most of the state’s products.
“When a farmer in Pennsylvania tries to sell his cheese or milk in Mexico, because of the tariffs imposed by the president, our products will be more expensive, meaning Mexicans will buy fewer products from Pennsylvania or perhaps none at all, all because of President Trump’s taxes,” the governor said.
The original tariffs imposed by Donald Trump that sparked the trade war have harmed small producers and the middle class to a greater extent, as well as the U.S. local industry.
Governor Shapiro also took the time to remind his citizens that cars made in the United States use imported aluminum, a metal that will also be affected by the tariffs. In other words, the country’s domestic production, which depends on imports of raw materials, will also suffer the consequences of a trade war that makes no sense.
The trade war between Mexico and the United States has no winners, as highlighted by the ALMA (Alliance of Mexicans & Americans) organization, as bilateral trade generated more than 300 billion dollars in 2023, while the number of jobs related to imports between both countries is nearly 5 million.
It is worth noting that both Mexico and Canada have continually expressed their willingness to revoke their tariffs if the United States does the same. They have also publicly announced their disdain for these tariff policies and emphasized that the measures imposed on U.S. products are simply a consequence of the trade hostility, which both countries consider unnecessary and self-destructive.
