The Mexican government, together with the private sector, has launched “La Gran Escapada”, an initiative that will take place from May 30 to June 1, 2025, where domestic and foreign tourists will be able to enjoy great discounts on flights, hotels, and tour packages throughout the country.
The joint strategy between the Ministry of Tourism and the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Concanaco Servytur) aims to boost the domestic market, generate jobs, support micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, and promote sustainable practices.
“It is great, encouraging news and, above all, it generates economic prosperity for our towns, communities and for each of the agents in the tourism sector. This type of initiative enhances Mexico,” said the Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, at a press conference.
With the guarantee of registered providers, formalized before the country’s fiscal and regulatory authorities, including the National Tourism Registry, she called on “Mexicans to get to know their country and to bet on Mexico, on its people and on its wonderful tourist destinations.”
He explained that they will be able to find integrated tourist packages, payment facilities, and preferential rates on buses, planes, boats, and trains, including the Mayan Train and its hotels. They will also be able to access accommodation at a significant discount and promotions in restaurants, museums, guided tours and much more.
Encouraging all service providers in the country to join La Gran Escapada, the Tourism Good Weekend, Rodríguez Zamora said they will be able to register starting April 15 on the official website, www.lagranescapada.com.mx, as well as on www.gob.mx/sectur.
She explained that between April 15 and May 29, they will be able to upload their offers, promotions, packages, rates and discounts applicable to accommodation, transportation, tours, restaurants and tourist experiences. Once the information has been validated, it will be integrated into the official website, the Gran Escapada mobile apps, as well as the Sectur and Concanaco Servytur pages so that people can purchase these attractive tourist offers.
Rodríguez Zamora stressed that this strategy is aligned with the vision of tourism as a generator of jobs and economic benefits, as well as a lever for well-being, development and shared prosperity.
Octavio de la Torre de Stéffano, President of Concanaco Servytur, pointed out that La Gran Escapada, inspired by the Buen Fin (an annual strategy where all consumers in Mexico can access discounts on goods and services), is designed and organized to encourage travel within the country through discounts, promotions and exclusive packages.
To date, more than 350 companies in the sector have joined the program, offering a range of services and tourist attractions.
