In Mexico City, the leader of a crime cell responsible for recruiting people in training camps was arrested

As part of the National Security Strategy, in Mexico City, personnel from the Ministry of National Defense (Defensa), the Ministry of the Navy (Semar), the Federal Attorney General’s Office (FGR), the National Guard (NG), and the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), with the support of the National Intelligence Center (CNI), arrested José Gregorio “N”, leader of a crime cell, responsible for recruiting and training people for a criminal group; a woman who was accompanying him was also arrested.

Following the lines of investigation and as a result of the office and field analysis developed during months of work on this criminal organization with a presence in the state of Jalisco, security agents identified one of the operators of the group, dedicated to the recruitment of people in training camps.

This individual was monitored through fixed, mobile, and discreet surveillance in the state of Jalisco, where it was learned that he would be travelling to Mexico City. With this in mind, a security operation was implemented in the Cuajimalpa municipality, where he was arrested, accompanied by a woman.

As a result, 51-year-old José Gregorio “N” and the 43-year-old woman were detained, informed of their legal rights and, together with what was seized, were handed over to the corresponding Public Prosecutor’s Office, which will determine their legal status.

With these actions, the institutions of the Security Cabinet reaffirm their commitment to work in coordinated fashion to stop the generators of violence and ensure peace throughout the country.
