In remarks cited by international media, the Ugandan-born politician described Sheinbaum as “a role model” for her leadership style and her commitment to social and economic justice.
Mamdani, who made history as the first Muslim and one of the youngest mayoral candidates elected to lead the city, said he closely follows the political model implemented by Sheinbaum in Mexico.
According to the New York leader, the Mexican president embodies “a vision of government that prioritizes closeness to the people, the fight against inequality, and attention to social causes”.
Mamdani said that Sheinbaum is an inspiration to all. And that her leadership shows that politics can transform lives when driven by principles and social conscience.
