Mexican government arrests top Mara Salvatrucha criminal

In Texcoco, State of Mexico, personnel from the ministries of Defense, Navy, Public Security and the Federal Attorney General’s Office and National Guard, together with the State Police, detained Kevin Fernando Perdomo Díaz, alias “El Kino”, who belongs to the criminal group Mara Salvatrucha.

According to the Security and Citizen Protection Secretary (Secretaría de Seguridad y Protección Ciudadana), he has an outstanding arrest warrant for the crime of aggravated homicide and participating in terrorist organizations in El Salvador. The suspect is also wanted by the FBI in the United States.

While developing lines of investigation to detain perpetrators of violence, authorities obtained information that the in Embotelladores neighborhood, municipality of Texcoco was the area of mobility of a subject wanted by authorities in El Salvador and the United States, so fixed and mobile surveillance was carried out.

It was on Camino Viejo a Chapingo street, where the security agents located the subject, approached him, verified his identity and detained him, when they conducted a security check they found doses of marijuana. 

Kevin “N” was informed of his constitutional rights and together with what was seized he was presented before the corresponding agent of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, who will determine his legal situation to be deported to El Salvador, where he is required by the authorities.

Intelligence work indicates that the subject belongs to an international criminal group.
