The network of Mexican consulates in the United States increased the number of appointments held with Mexican nationals this year by 21 percent through April, compared to the same period in 2024. Civil registry procedures posted the greatest increase, at 179 percent.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Relations (SRE) noted that, as part of Mexican government strategies, efforts have been redoubled to digitalize, simplify, and expand the consular services offered in the United States, with the main goal of increasing available appointments and documents issued.

The SRE added that, through these efforts, the Mexican Government is working to guarantee the rights of the Mexican community through the services provided at consular offices.

From January 1 to April 25 of this year, 6.800 legal consults have been provided, and more than 43.000 cases of protection and consular assistance have been handled—75 percent of which corresponded to legal consultations concerning immigration issues.

The Ministry emphasized that, in order to bring consular services closer to the community and as part of ongoing efforts to provide preventive information, the consular network continuously carries out activities such as the “Know and Exercise Your Rights” and “Open Door Consulates” workshops.

These activities seek to strengthen the Mexican community’s awareness of their rights and the services consulates provide.

Under this strategy, more than 7,000 preventive protection issues were addressed in 2025, including over 1.500 open-door consultations.

In addition, the SRE reminded the public that the Center for Information and Assistance to Mexicans (CIAM) offers telephone assistance 24 hours a day, seven days a week, through a trained and professional team that provides compassionate support in consular assistance and protection.

As a result, from January to date, CIAM has immediately attended to over 69,000 Mexican nationals, a 65 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024.

Consulates have also designed community outreach strategies aimed at detecting potential cases requiring consular protection, identifying high-risk or vulnerable situations, and publicizing recommendations to help avoid unnecessary interactions with U.S. authorities.
