Mexico’s embassies in the Middle East are maintaining a high level of alert and consular assistance amid rising tensions in the region. The Ministry of Foreign Relations (SRE) reported that its personnel in Iran, Israel, Jordan, Egypt, and Azerbaijan continue to provide guidance, support, and protection to Mexican nationals, particularly to ensure their safe evacuation.

So far, 175 Mexican nationals have been successfully evacuated and are now out of danger. Diplomatic efforts have focused on securing their effective departure despite mobility restrictions and partial airspace closures.

Coordinated Evacuations

The Mexican Embassy in Israel has played a key role in assisting the departure of 116 Mexican nationals by land and sea, facilitating their passage to Egypt, Jordan, and Cyprus, as Israeli airspace remains partially open. The Embassy in Jordan assisted in the departure of 29 individuals, although available flights still face frequent cancellations.

In the case of Iran, consular support was provided to a second group of Mexicans who managed to reach Azerbaijan, where they were received by staff from the Mexican embassy. A total of 30 Mexican nationals have departed from Iran, and all are reported to be in good condition.

The SRE acknowledged the efforts of the diplomatic corps in the region, highlighting the commitment of embassy staff to carry out the instructions of Mexico’s President, Claudia Sheinbaum regarding the protection of Mexicans abroad.

The Ministry of Foreign Relations also renewed its call for peace and reiterated the importance of diplomatic dialogue as the path to a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
