Mexico’s Minister of Tourism Josefina Rodríguez Zamora reported that the country’s regular air transportation system moved 122.4 million passengers in 2025, a 2.4% increase over 2024, underscoring the resilience and growth of Mexico’s tourism and aviation sectors.

According to the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur), the year’s performance confirms a sustained recovery and a solid outlook for air connectivity. Rodríguez Zamora said the figures reflect “the growing confidence in Mexico as a global tourism destination and the strategic role of air connectivity in driving development, jobs, and community well-being.”

From January to December 2025, domestic flights transported 63.5 million passengers, a 3.3% year over year increase and 18.7% above pre-pandemic levels in 2019.

In the domestic market, Viva Aerobus and Volaris led passenger traffic, jointly carrying 46.8 million travelers. This represented a 6.5% rise compared with 2024 and a significant 69.4% increase versus 2019.

On the international front, Mexico recorded 58.9 million passengers on international flights, up 1.5% from the previous year and 23.0% higher than pre-pandemic figures.

Mexico’s leading international carriers, Aeroméxico and Volaris, transported a combined 14.3 million passengers on international routes, a 5.1% annual increase and a 44.9% rise compared with 2019.

Sectur emphasized that these results reinforce the importance of air travel as a cornerstone of Mexico’s tourism industry and international connectivity, supporting economic growth and strengthening the country’s position in global travel markets.
