Since the beginning of the ‘Northern Border Operation’ on February 5, some 1,409 suspects have been arrested and 1,323 firearms, 165,954 cartridges of various calibers, 5,536 magazines, 22,566.24 kg of drugs, including 107.92 kg of fentanyl, 1,198 vehicles, and 157 properties have been seized, according to Mexico’s Security Cabinet.
These actions were carried out in strict compliance with the rule of law and with full respect for human rights. Among the seizures and arrests, the following are the most significant:
– Baja California
In Tecate, three suspects were arrested and 42 kilos of fentanyl, seven kilos of heroin, and a vehicle were seized.
In Tijuana, two suspects were arrested and two rifles, a handgun, four magazines, 100 cartridges, 200 doses of methamphetamine, a scale, a gram scale, a vehicle, and seven cell phones were seized.
– Nuevo Leon
In Monterrey, a suspect was arrested and a rifle, a handgun, four magazines, 530 cartridges and a property were seized.
– Sinaloa
In Sinaloa, 13 methamphetamine production areas were located and dismantled. In addition, 11,410 liters and 50 kilos of methamphetamine production substances, three organic synthesis reactors, and a lab condenser were seized.
The economic impact on the criminal organizations is 253 million pesos (US$12.71 million).
In Culiacán, five suspects were arrested and 141.45 kg of methamphetamine and four vehicles were seized.
– Sonora
In Pitiquito, three suspects were arrested and a Barrett rifle, 16 rifles, 60 magazines, cartridges, improvised explosive devices, three vehicles, and two ATVs were seized.
In Ciudad Obregón, two rifles, two handguns, four magazines, and 86 rounds of live ammunitions were seized.
