Mexico’s Minister of National Defense (Sedena) General Ricardo Trevilla Trejo held a video conference call on Wednesday afternoon with the commander of the United States Northern Command, General Gregory M. Guillot.

According to a statement from Sedena, during the meeting, General Trevilla acknowledged the efforts both countries are making in security and immigration.

Using data from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Trevilla highlighted a 97% decrease in illegal border crossings and a 59% increase in the seizure of ammunition and firearm components compared to the same period last year.

He also emphasized “a 70% reduction in fentanyl seizures, with 20,000 pounds of fentanyl, heroin, and methamphetamine confiscated — representing a 45% decrease over the past 90 days.”
