The Mexican Government’s Security Cabinet reports on the results obtained from Operation Northern Border” for January 2, 3, and 4, 2026, according to the Security Cabinet of the Government of Mexico.

Since the start of the operation on February 5, 2025, some 10,493 suspects have been arrested, and 7,701 firearms, 1,289,018 rounds of ammunition of various calibers, 34,451 magazines, 117,311.2 kg of drugs—including 601.8 kg of fentanyl—6,131 vehicles, and 1,229 properties have been seized.

The actions were carried out in strict adherence to the rule of law and with full respect for human rights. Among the seizures and arrests, the following were the most significant:

– Baja California

In Mexicali, two suspects were arrested, and four rifles, 18 magazines, 514 rounds of ammunition, seven bags of marijuana, three tactical vests, three helmets, two communication radios, four cell phones, and a vehicle were seized.

– Chihuahua

In Satevó, two rifles, three magazines, 86 rounds of ammunition, and a vehicle were seized.

– Nuevo León

In Apodaca, a firearm, five magazines, 31 rounds of ammunition, doses of marijuana, six cell phones, and three vehicles were seized.

In Gral. Treviño, four Barrett rifles, 10 other rifles, 14 magazines, 380 rounds of ammunition, three tactical vests, and four vehicles were seized.

– Sinaloa

In Culiacán, a storage facility concentrating various materials used in the production of synthetic drugs was located and dismantled. During the operation, 915 liters and 25 kg of substances used in the production of methamphetamine were seized. The economic impact on organized crime is 18 million pesos (US$1.00 million)

– Sonora

In Ciudad Obregón, three suspects were arrested, and a firearm, 110 doses of marijuana, 306 doses of methamphetamine, three magazines, 47 rounds of ammunition, three tire spikes, cash, and a vehicle were seized.

In Navojoa, 21 firearms, 11 magazines, 146 rounds of ammunition, and a vehicle were seized.

– Tamaulipas

In Nueva Ciudad Guerrero, two Barrett rifles, four other rifles, seven magazines, 86 rounds of ammunition, two tactical vests, and a vehicle with homemade armor were seized.
