SUMMARY

National Water Plan: order and citizen monitoring of water

The Mexican government of Mexico reported that the National Water Plan is 40% complete. The strategy prioritizes infrastructure, cleaning up rivers, licensing regulation, and efficient water use in agriculture. In addition, a webpage will be launched to receive reports denouncing the illegal use or unauthorized sale of water, with the aim of combatting corruption and strengthening citizen oversight.

Michoacán Plan for Peace and Justice

President Claudia Sheinbaum reported that the Governor of Michoacán participated in the Security Cabinet to advance the #PlanMichoacán, a comprehensive strategy of institutional coordination, social programs, support for victims, and community crime prevention, without militarization. Consultations will be held, and a draft will be ready this Friday. She also met with the wife of the assassinated Mayor of Uruapan, who will assume the municipal presidency with federal government support.

Sheinbaum denounces sexual harassment and announces national actions

The President filed a complaint with the CDMX Prosecutor’s Office after being harassed while walking through the Zócalo plaza. She said she did so “because all women experience this” and to establish zero tolerance. She instructed a review of state legislation on sexual harassment and announced a national campaign to raise awareness and sanction such conduct.

The aggressor was arrested and Sheibaum accused the newspaper Reforma of re-victimizing her by publishing the photos of the incident.

Two national projects: war of the past vs. security with justice

Responding to the opposition’s call to “return to the war against drug trafficking,” Sheinbaum explained there are two national projects. The opposition proposes a return to violence and privileges of the past, while the Fourth Transformation wagers on well-being, education, healthcare, and rights. “They represent war; we represent transformation and love for the people,” she said.

Social networks yes, but with a critical approach: avoid falling for setups and provocations

Sheinbaum urged the population to think about what is shared on social networks after congressional deputies displayed a flag with a character from One Piece. She said the debate should focus on ideas, not viral symbols. On the supposed call for Generation Z marches, she warned that considerable social media content comes from anonymous accounts and AI-generated profiles, and is promoted by opposition supporters.

Second phase of aid to flood victims will begin Monday

The President reported that the second delivery of aid to those affected by the torrential rains and flooding in five states will start Monday, after the initial Friday date was postponed. The federal government maintains coordination with state authorities, and this weekend the President will visit Michoacán and Nayarit to supervise emergency relief measures.

Lie Detector

In the #MañaneraDelPueblo, the #DetectorDeMentiras exposed a coordinated disinformation campaign against the Federal Government involving the use of bots in Mexico and abroad, and amplification in the media and on the social network X. Three falsehoods were debunked:

It is not true that the Federal Government abandoned the Mayor of Uruapan, Carlos Manzo.

It is not true that the Mexican government “ordered the killing” of the mayor.

It is not true that Mexico is a “failed state.”

The right-wing tries to profit from the tragedy; the Government responds with transparency, investigation, and justice.
