Presidential Tour Overview in 9 States
President Claudia Sheinbaum reported that a total of 130,000 people attended her tour assemblies in Guanajuato, Aguascalientes, Zacatecas, Durango, Sonora, Nuevo León, Coahuila, Tamaulipas, and Veracruz.
She emphasized the good institutional relationship with opposition governors, especially from the PRI, and expressed gratitude for the recognition from the governors of Durango, Coahuila, and Nuevo León.
Who’s Who in Prices?
Iván Escalante, head of the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco), announced that Finabien remains the money transfer service that delivers the most pesos per dollar on remittances sent by Mexicans abroad.
He also noted that the national average gasoline price remains at 23.58 pesos (US$1.26) per liter. With the renewal of the Anti-Inflation and Anti-High Cost of Living Package in August 2025, there was a 3.6% reduction in the price of the basic food basket compared to May.
Progress in Wellbeing Programs
Minister of Wellbeing Ariadna Montiel reported that the payment for the September-October period has started, benefiting over 16.3 million beneficiaries with a disbursement of almost 92.54 billion pesos (US$4.96 billion)
She highlighted the 2025 Women’s Wellbeing Pension/Stipend, which grants 3,000 pesos (US$160) bimonthly to women aged 60 to 64. New beneficiaries registered in August will receive their card in October. The program aims to enroll nearly two million women nationwide.
“Sellouts”: Criticism of Alito Moreno
The President called the national PRI leader, Alejandro Moreno, a “sellout” for accusing her government of having alleged ties to drug trafficking. He made the accusations in the United States.
She described his stance as violent and contradictory given the support expressed by PRI governors. She reiterated that beyond party differences, her administration maintains coordination and collaboration with opposition governors to guarantee governance and security.
Security and Fight Against Fiscal Fuel Theft
Claudia Sheinbaum commented on the arrests announced by the Security Cabinet on September 7. She explained they were based on accusations made by former Minister of the Navy Admiral Rafael Ojeda.
Investigations identified a vessel that, under temporary permits, was importing diesel instead of the authorized fuel, thus evading taxes—a practice known as fiscal huachicol (fiscal fuel theft).
The President reiterated her commitment to a zero-impunity policy.
Health and Education
Sheinbaum noted that the implementation of reverse auctions for the purchase of pharmaceuticals saved 25 billion pesos (US$1.34 billion) between 2024 and 2025.
She also reported that while 3,740 medical specialists graduated in 2018, the number rose to 7,427 in 2025.
2026 Economic Package
The President announced that on Monday, September 8, the 2026 Economic Package will be sent to Congress. The package guarantees the continuity of all Wellbeing programs, including the beginning of stipends for primary school children, and ensures public investment.
Consular Support for Mexicans Detained in Georgia
The President reported on the raid at an automotive plant in Georgia where 23 Mexicans were detained; 13 requested consular assistance and 10 did not.
She reiterated that Mexican nationals can request support at 520 623 7874 (USA) or 079 (Mexico).
