The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, said “there will be no impunity” for those prosecuted in the case at Izaguirre ranch, located in Teuchitlán, Jalisco.

During her morning press conference at the National Palace, she explained that since the Security Cabinet became aware of the situation, an investigation has been requested from the Attorney General’s Office to guarantee a thorough investigation with the support of the National Search Commission, whose experts are already on site.

“We are committed to providing certainty and truth to the families of the disappeared, to clarifying the facts through the information obtained from the scientific evidence, and to prosecuting those responsible. There will be no impunity”, she said.

She added that the government will not hide anything and will not tolerate the construction of “historical truths” (“verdades históricas”) as in the past.

“We will never hide anything; the truth must always prevail. In my government there will never be any dark construction of “historical truths”; the government will not tolerate the construction of half-truths or falsehoods. We will always stand with truth and justice,” she said.

Similarly, the president emphasized that there would be a timely follow-up with those who had knowledge of the events and legal responsibility for the safeguarding of the property and what they found there since September 2024. Responsibilities will be established to learn the truth for the victims and the people of Mexico.

Sheinbaum said that she has instructed public servants from the Ministry of the Interior and the National Search Commission to attend to the families and the victims and disappeared persons in this and other cases.

She added that she has also issued instructions to the Security Cabinet to assist in all the investigations.

In this regard, she explained that next Wednesday, March 19, the Attorney General’s Office will inform the people of Mexico of the progress made in the investigations and the evidence it has in this case.

“Our hearts go out to the families of the disappeared; we know of their need and longing to be reunited with their loved ones. We will never create a confrontation with a mother whose son, daughter, brother or relative has disappeared,” she said.

The president of Mexico stressed that the focus of her government is on respect for human rights, building peace and caring for the victims, and always truth and justice.

Finally, she announced that the National Public Security Council, together with all the necessary governors, as well as the state prosecutor’s offices and the Attorney General’s Office, will be convened to draw up protocols to deal with this crime, care for the victims and strengthen the Search Commissions.
