The USS Gravely, a vessel belonging to the U.S. Navy, arrived at the Port of Veracruz on April 25 for a logistical stopover and is scheduled to set sail on April 28, according to the Ministry of the Navy.

The Mexican Navy reported that the ship measures 155.7 meters in length, 20.2 meters in beam (width), and has a crew comprised of 40 officers, 245 non-commissioned officers, and six civilians.

The vessel is docked at pier 9 south of the Port of Veracruz to carry out a logistical operational visit, including refueling with 900,000 liters of fuel, restocking its supplies with food and provisions, and allowing the crew to rest.

The Mexican Navy emphasized in a statement that this is a standard procedure based on International Law and the Federal Law of the Seas (Article 11), the Maritime Navigation and Commerce Law, and the Third United Nations Conference on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS III).

It also explained that visits by foreign ships to national ports are carried out in accordance with established procedures and the necessary permits, as part of regular practices of international cooperation and logistical assistance, without posing any risk to national sovereignty.

The Ministry of the Navy reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening ties of friendship and cooperation with its counterparts around the world, based on the principles of mutual respect, national sovereignty, and international coordination.
