The Ballet Folklórico de México de Amalia Hernández will mark its 75th anniversary with a 24-city tour of the United States that opens Jan. 30, 2027, in Northridge, California, and closes March 23 in Austin, Texas, the company said in a statement reported by El Universal on Oct. 20.

The tour travels with more than 50 dancers, musicians and technicians, according to Infobae. Founded in 1952 by choreographer Amalia Hernández (1917-2000), the company has been based at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City since 1959 and has logged more than 100 international tours in 60 countries, according to its website. It remains in family hands: Salvador López, Hernández's grandson, is general director, and Viviana Basanta Hernández, her daughter, is artistic director. For Mexican-descent audiences in the United States, the tour places a national institution within driving distance of home, from Los Angeles to Chicago to San Antonio.

The anniversary season is built on the repertory that defined the company under its founder: traditional dances from different regions of the country, performed in regional costume with live music. February stops include Modesto, Santa Bárbara, Los Ángeles, Chico, Davis, Berkeley, San Luis Obispo and Costa Mesa in California; Tucson and Mesa in Arizona; and Las Vegas. The company then plays Carmel, Indiana; East Lansing, Michigan; Milwaukee; Minneapolis; Chicago; Santa Fe, New Mexico; and Denver. The Texas leg in March covers El Paso, Lubbock, Richardson, San Antonio and Austin.

López said in the statement that it is "an honor to bring Amalia Hernández's artistic legacy to audiences across the United States and to bring the beauty and diversity of Mexico closer to new generations." El Informador of Guadalajara reported the same dates and itinerary, framing the run as a way of carrying the country's dance tradition to Mexican communities north of the border.

The run covers 11 states over nearly eight weeks, ending March 23 in Austin. For families across the Southwest and Midwest who trace roots to the regions whose dances the company performs, the calendar offers a season of dates to plan around and a chance to see the full ensemble outside Mexico City.
