Mexican and U.S. Armed Forces Discuss Security
* Mexico’s Defense and Navy ministries meet with General Gregory M. Guillot of the U.S. Northern Command
By Once Noticias. Mexican Press Agency.
General Ricardo Trevilla, Minister of National Defense, and Admiral Raymundo Pedro Morales, Minister of the Navy, met with General Gregory M. Guillot, Commander of the United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), to deepen discussions on shared interests in security and defense between the armed forces of the countries.

The visit, which took place from June 23 to 25 in Colorado Springs—home to the headquarters of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD)—was held as part of the Bilateral Military Cooperation Strategy.

The Defense and Navy ministries shared their perspectives and priorities to contribute to regional security and to the protection of the shared border in the face of mutual risks.
Specific topics addressed included information exchange and training, always guided by the principles of shared responsibility, mutual trust, and respect for the sovereignty of both countries.

General Guillot, in turn, highlighted the mission and priorities of USNORTHCOM and NORAD, both of which are focused on the security of North America and the U.S.–Mexico border.
This marks the first time under the current administration that Mexico’s Defense and Navy ministries have visited these U.S. facilities since taking office.

It is worth noting that General Guillot visited the National Training Center of Mexico’s Ministry of National Defense in May, located in Santa Gertrudis, Chihuahua.
