The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) congratulated the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) and the Mexican Army’s Special Forces on the capture of Ramón Ángel “N,” alias “R1,” identified as the alleged mastermind behind the murder of former Uruapan Mayor Carlos Manzo.
Through his official account on the social media platform X, DEA Administrator Terry Cole recognized the coordinated work of Mexican security forces during the operation:
“Congratulations on the successful operation and arrest of R1 by @SSPCMexico and the Mexican Army Special Forces @Defensamx1.”
The capture of “R1” represents a key blow against the structures driving violence in the region, an action supported by international agencies.
