The country´s consulates are focused on protecting and attending to mexicans, not to intervening in us politics: president Claudia Sheinbaum

The Mexican government’s consulates are focused exclusively on attending to and protecting Mexicans in the United States, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo affirmed. Sheinbaum denied that they have any kind of political function in the United States, as suggested in Peter Schweizer’s book The Invisible Coup: How American Elites and Foreign Powers Use Immigration as a Weapon.

“The consulates play a role that is determined by international law, and what our consulates do, essentially, is protect Mexicans in the United States and provide assistance to Mexicans in the United States. That is their key activity, and that is what they are focused on. And we categorically deny that they are doing anything that has to do with U.S. politics,” the President said at the morning press conference known as ”La mañanera”.

Sheinbaum reiterated that Mexico respects the freedom and sovereignty of other nations and that non-intervention is a constitutional principle. “If we ask other countries not to intervene, then obviously we adhere to that same constitutional principle,” she added.
